History

Aksaray University Faculty of Health Sciences was established as the School of Health under Niğde University with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 10.10.1996 and numbered 96/8655, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 02.11.1996 and numbered 22805. With the establishment of Aksaray University, it was affiliated with Aksaray University by the amendment made with Article 64 of Law No. 5467, published on March 17, 2006.

The Nursing Department was the first to begin education in our school. The Health Officer Department was added as a second department with the letter from the Council of Higher Education dated 14.02.2000 and numbered 266-2888.

In accordance with the letter from the Council of Higher Education dated 18.05.2007 and numbered 1849-12015, and the law No. 5634 on Amendments to the Nursing Law published in the Official Gazette dated 02.05.2007 and numbered 26510, the Nursing and Health Officer Departments were merged under the name "Nursing."

The Health Institutions Management Department was opened in our school following the letter from the Council of Higher Education dated 28.04.2009 and numbered 1968, and the Emergency Aid and Disaster Management Department was opened following the letter dated 30.04.2012 and numbered 2809-18763.

In the Higher Education Executive Board meeting held on 11.02.2015, due to the merging of the Health Institutions Management, Health Institutions Administration, and Health Management Departments under the name Health Management in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 as amended by Law No. 2880, the name of the Health Institutions Management Department in our school was changed to Health Management.

Our Faculty of Health Sciences was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 26.09.2016 and numbered 2016/9270, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 11.11.2016 and numbered 29875, and the departments in the School of Health were transferred to the Faculty of Health Sciences.

In our faculty, the Health Management Department admitted second-shift students in the 2017-2018 academic year, and the Emergency Aid and Disaster Management Department admitted first and second-shift students in the 2018-2019 academic year.

In accordance with the letter from the Council of Higher Education dated 10.10.2017 and numbered E.68215, the Nutrition and Dietetics Department and the Child Development Department were opened, and following the letter dated 07.11.2018 and numbered E.86725, the Social Work Department was established. However, no students have been admitted to the Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, or Social Work Departments yet.

Our faculty continues its education with the Nursing, Health Management, and Emergency Aid and Disaster Management departments.

Our faculty currently has approximately 1,315 students, 43 academic staff, and 10 administrative staff. Although we have seen an increase in the number of qualified teaching staff, our efforts to strengthen our team and raise our level even higher will continue.
